Fantastic Family | Maryland Family Portrait Photographer

So… I want to tell you about this family, but adequate words are failing me right now. I think it’s because they are such an amazing group of good, good people… I admire them for all the value they hold for their family…and their shining example leaves me speechless. They have a love that is rare…so very deep…and I look at them, observe how they interact with each other, and can’t help but wish that everyone could meet them and get to know them like I do. They are selfless givers. They would do anything to make certain that each day is a happy and healthy one, not just for each other, but for all those fortunate beings who surround them. A little over a year ago these wonderful people moved into a house just down the street from ours, and their presence has made all of our lives richer. Thank you for blessing our lives with your kindness, grace, and friendship. Photographing you all was an incredible honor for me — thank you for trusting me with lasting images of your family. You have a place deep in our hearts…and we are grateful to call you our friends.

I’m sitting here…thinking about this year and how it’s so quickly nearing the end. Every year about this time, many of us reflect on all that’s happened and how each moment, each day, each person has affected our lives, changed us, maybe disappointed us, or even inspired us… The year I happily said my vows to my husband and the years my sons came into this world were by far the most extraordinary and beautiful years of my life. This past year has been a remarkable one in it’s own right. Throwing caution to the wind is not unusual for me. I like to take risks. I love a good challenge. This year, however, has presented me with some of the most powerful challenges I’ve ever faced. And it’s been fantastic! I have experienced a sort of awakening, tackling each objection, and always being left with a feeling of complete exhilaration. I am truly living my dream! I have been blessed with more love, joy, and smiling faces than I ever imagined. In this post are some of my favorite photos, in random order, from the year’s sessions that I haven’t yet shared. I hope you enjoy a little peek into all that I’ve work hard on this year!

To all of my amazing friends outside and inside the photographer community, and to my phenomenal family, thank you, for your support, encouragement, and love. Words just can’t express how incredible you all are and how grateful I am for you.

Last but not least, although 2009 is coming to an end, it is still, as always, just the beginning. It’s a big world out there with so much yet for all of us to learn…Every day holds such promise and possibility! We all have dreams, wishes, hopes…what is yours? And what is keeping you from actively pursuing your dream? I want to tell you — Take that risk! Challenge yourself!

Now is the time and you can do it. It’s still just the beginning…

“B” Family Session — Maryland Family and Maternity Photographer

I like going to the dentist. Really! I do! I like going to the dentist because of the people who work there, not because of the work I need done there. Despite great dental hygiene practices, my teeth have issues…mainly the tendency to crack. So I’m at the dentist’s office a LOT…which normally could be a real drag, I know! But the people who work at my dentist’s office are awesome! And so, I actually don’t mind going. This is where I met one of my dental hygienists, Meagan. She immediately put me at ease, chatting with me like we’d known each other for years. Don’t you love that? A few months ago Meagan told me that she and her husband were expecting their first baby. Yippee! This was great news! Being a mom who is totally head-over-heels for my boys, I am always thrilled for people who are anticipating a beautiful new life! It’s the best thing ever. Meagan asked me if I would take her maternity photos, and I said that I couldn’t wait (but would have to..she was hardly showing yet)! So, Meagan, here is a little peek into the fun we had that sunny afternoon…My thanks to you and your husband for putting me at ease once again! Enjoy!

“V” Family Session — Maryland Family and Maternity Photographer

While taking the boys for a walk a couple of years ago I noticed a family moving into one of the houses on our street, so we stopped to chat and welcome this new family to our neighborhood. It was exciting to find out that we all had a lot in common — our families had roots in Iowa, a passion for sports, funny dogs, and boys! We hit it off right away and although our lives are busy and we only saw each other a few times after that, it was still nice to know that we lived just down the street from a great family. We kept in touch mainly through mutual friends and facebook, and had hopes to get together for dinner one night. A few weeks ago, the wife and mother emailed me to ask if I would be interested in taking family photos as well as her baby belly — I said YES! Absolutely! I was thrilled. Here is a sneak peek of this awesome family. I can’t wait to meet the new arrival!
